Hand-carved wooden torch with the inscription: ?Sheriff John McCanless 1918?. [N.p., 1918]. Wooden torch with star-shaped wall mount, ?hand? and torch (inscription is on torch). Nail and wire hold the torch in place. Approximately 18? long. Minor wear, a few cracks, the index finger of the hand is broken off near the first joint. Very good. John McCanless was a Texas Ranger and the sheriff of Dallam County, Texas.
