Handkerchief Box. Colon: Abbott?s Magic Novelty Co., ca. 1949. Handsome hardwood box on removable base is shown empty. A moment later, handkerchiefs are produced from within. Single flap non-locking model. 7 x 4 x 4 ??. Scarce. The truly fine craftsmanship of this ?Jap?-style box is reminiscent of the work of Thayer, but was manufactured by Abbott?s for a short period during the firm?s glory days, in the 1940s and 50s. The large exterior panels feature raised wooden panels.
