Publisher?s terra cotta pebbled cloth ruled in blind and titled in gilt. Extensively illustrated with nearly 1000 wood engravings, many full pages. Two-page colored map in vol. 1. Folio. Ends and corners frayed, few stains to boards, ex-library copies (not for circulation) with stamps on text block edges and tail of spine; library labels to front endpapers. Surprisingly clean and intact.
