HEMINGWAY, Ernest (1899-1961). Autograph Letter Signed to His Friend, Bill Davis. Finca Vicia, San Francisco de Paula, Cuba [November 9, 1959]. 3 ? pages. On Hemingway?s onionskin personal stationary with his Cuban address printed in red at top of the first page. Addressed ?Negro? to his friend, Nathan William (?Bill?) Davis. Signed ?Ernest? on the back of page 3. Written in blue ink. Each page approximately 11 x 8 ??. Written on the front of pages 1 and 2, and front and back of page 3. With the original onionskin mailing Air Mail envelope on Hemingway?s matching stationery, addressed by him to Davis? residence in Malaga, Spain, with ink cancels and with a pencil note in an unknown hand. Each page of the letter with 2 horizontal creases. Letters heavily dampstained and most of the text is smeared and is difficult to read or is illegible. Signature is fairly legible. Some dampstaining to envelope. Fair. Davis was a close friend of Hemingway?s and Ernest even wrote Dangerous Summer during his stay at Davis? estate in Malaga (?La Consula?) in 1959. Measurements: 11 x 8 ??.
