HERRMANN, Alexander (1844 ? 96). Alexander Herrmann's Cups and Balls. Circa 1890. A large and finely made set of three brass cups said to have been the property of Alexander Herrmann, the famous stage magician of the nineteenth century. Classic tapered design with shallow saddles and single shoulder bead. The beads were added after the cups were spun, machined to fit and soldered or brazed in place until a uniform fit was achieved. Height 4 ?", mouth diameter 3 ?". Formerly displayed in Ray Goulet's Mini Museum of Magic in Watertown, Mass. and purchased by Goulet from noted magic collector John Daniel.
