Six pieces, 1880s ? 1930s, including an ALS from Herwinn to Dick Ritson on his pictorial letterhead; -- two program/handbills bearing Herwinn?s likness on the verso and a list of effects he will perform on the versos; -- a larger format pictorial program bearing a wood-engraved portrait of Herwinn in the upper portion, ca. 1890; -- a four-page program for the Queen?s Jubilee featuring Herwinn along with a magic lantern show and other acts; -- and a small pictorial letterpress broadside for Holtum the strongman, with Herwinn on the bill. The largest item 11 x 8 ??. Generally very good condition. A good group.Herwinn?s name is little-known today, but one of his inventions has become an important secret tool of the magician?s trade: the Thumb Tip.
