(Spine a bit darkened with a trifle bit of rubbing at extreme ends). FIRST EDITION, second printing. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY HOLMES TO FREDERIC RATHBONE ESQUIRE a month after initial publication (November 1890) which predates the imprint. This is possibly the same Rathbone who was one of the leading experts at the time on Wedgwood and ?Old English Pottery? who helped assemble the famous collections of William Hesketh Lever and Lord Tweedmouth.
