Near Fine. With the bookplate of William Neely Ross on the fp. THE RARE FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY HOPPIN'S MOTHER, MARY DEMING HOPPIN ON THE FFEP: ?Mrs Cady from M. D. Hoppin June 1897". Benjamin Hoppin was Peary's mineralogist; this is his first-hand account of the Arctic expedition aboard the Hope.
