Marking 100 years since the death of Harry Houdini, Potter & Potter will present a landmark sale of Houdini memorabilia on October 31, 2026 at the famed Magic Castle in Hollywood, California. The sale brings to the public for the very first time 100 historic items from the collection of Kevin Connolly, many of which were personally owned by Houdini.

HOUDINI, Harry (Erik Weisz, 1874 - 1926). Chicago Spiritualists' Affidavit. April, 1926. 4to. Two pages, rectos only, with a few manuscript corrections stapled in a plain blue paper wrapper, as issued. The text reads, in part, "Ann Wardell, plantiff ... complains of Harry Houdini and Princess Theatre, defendants, of a plea of trespass on the case: for that whereas before and at the time of several grievances hereinafter mentioned, she was a person of good name... Yet the defendants ... wickedly and maliciously intending to injure the plaintiff, and to bring her into public scandal and disgrace ... falsely and maliciously ... spoke and published, the false, scandalous, malicious and defamatory words following ... 'I (meaning defendant Houdini) will give you the names of the fraudulent mediums of Chicago. Mrs. Wardell (meaning plaintiff). They ... all go under the cloak of religion and sindle the people and are frauds.'"

Typed title to outer wrapper stating, "Circuit Court of Cook County / Ann Wardell, vs. Harry Houdini and Princess Theatre." Stamped with the file date of April 9, 1926, and SIGNED by the medium's attorney on the second leaf.
