HOUDINI, Harry (Erik Weisz, 1874 - 1926). Houdini Water Torture Cell Fragments. Including charred pieces of wood, a nail, screw, pieces of glass, wire, brass, and other small fragments from Houdini’s original and most famous escape device, the Water Torture Cell. Framed in a shadowbox. 

The Cell, which burned in a fire at the Niagara Falls Houdini Museum in 1995, was subsequently restored; a handful of relics including these fragments were saved and offered to collectors of Houdini memorabilia. 

Included are several photographs of the destroyed cell, and a LOA from John Gaughan, the expert craftsman and prop maker who restored the cell, which reads, in part, "Among the pieces is a bit of molten brass which was the handle on the left side of the cabinet. The burnt wood pieces were from the beautiful Cuban mahogany sides and of course the glass was from the front."
