Marking 100 years since the death of Harry Houdini, Potter & Potter will present a landmark sale of Houdini memorabilia on October 31, 2026 at the famed Magic Castle in Hollywood, California. The sale brings to the public for the very first time 100 historic items from the collection of Kevin Connolly, many of which were personally owned by Houdini.

HOUDINI, HARRY (ERIK WEISZ, 1874 - 1926). Positively the First Time in Seattle. Houdini. Circa 1915. Three-color panel-size poster advertising Houdini’s appearance at the top of the bill at Seattle's Orpheum Theater. The text advertises him as “Justly World  Famous Self-Liberator” and bills his Water Torture Cell and the "masterpiece of the yogis," his famous East Indian Needle trick.

Also announced is his $1,000 challenge, “...to anyone proving that it is possible to obtain air in the up-side-down position in which he releases himself from this WATER FILLED TORTURE CELL.”

Matted and framed, 45 ½ x 20”. Linen backed, with old folds expertly restored. Bright and attractive. 

A photograph of Houdini's upside down straitjacket escape used to promote this show is also offered for sale in this auction.
