Illustrated with 6 frontispieces. 6 volumes bound in 3. Bound in later 19th century full brown calf, boards triple-ruled in gilt, spines tooled in gilt in compartments, burgundy and green gilt morocco lettering labels on spines, gilt board edges and turn-ins, marbled endleaves (spines worn at edges, some wear to joints, boards). Very good. FIRST EDITIONS. The author of this history was also known as a forger of Shakespeare.
