Japanese Lacquerware Cups and Balls. Circa 1990s. Handsome set of three single-bead cups finished in black and gilt with orange-red interiors, together with a matching wand. The set housed in its original wooden presentation box with cloth covers, fitted base, and closure ties. Height 3 ?, mouth diameter 2 5/8?. Fine condition; unused. From the collection of Max Maven. Note: This is one of ten sets produced as gifts for winners of the Close-Up Magic Grand Prix, held intermittently in Japan from 1984 - 1990. The set was presented to Maven by the Onosakas, proprietors of Magicland, the Tokyo magic shop that sponsored the competition
