KALANAG (Helmut Schreiber, 1903 - 63). Kalanag's Stage Jacket with Ball Dropper. Munich: Gebr. Reischenbedi [?], ca. 1950. Specially designed quilted blue velvet smoking jacket with silk lapels and braided decoration, worn by Kalanag during his trademark turn with the Multiplying Billiard Balls. Concealed in the jacket front is a mechanical dropper in the manner of the De Biere design for the equipment of a ?dirty" hand. The performer secretly drops the ball into the metal container from the exterior of the jacket, as the entryway is concealed by its braided decoration.
