Including: Movie still negatives for America America, Baby Doll, East of Eden, A Face in the Crowd, and Splendor in the Grass (8 x 10?) and a photographic negative image of Kazan himself. Provenance: From the estate of Sol Stein. Elia Kazan is widely considered to be one of the most significant film directors of the twentieth century. His films A Streetcar Named Desire, East of Eden, and Splendor in the Grass introduced to the world Marlon Brando, James Dean, and Warren Beatty, respectively, with East of Eden being the only one of Dean?s films he would live to see on the silver screen. In addition to directing Kazan was a prolific writer, with Sol Stein publishing his first proper novel, The Arrangement, in 1967; the novel would spend a total of twenty-five weeks at the top of the New York Times Bestseller list.
