On two sheets of Lafayette?s embossed notepaper with the rubber-stamped address of Lafayette?s home at 55 Tavistock Square, and addressed to a Sir (likely theater manager J.F. Elliston) relating to upcoming performances. It reads, in part, ?I don?t know if I have a date with you?if I do when it is ? it?s immaterial to me but I would like to know. ? I am in the dark.? Boldly signed in ink, ?Very truly yours, The Great Lafayette.? Each sheet 7 ? x 5 ??. Mailing folds, pinholes.
