LALIBERTE, Norman (1925-2021). Tic-Tac-Toe. 1965. New York: Del Sol Productions. Del Sol Productions was a toy and exhibition design firm in New York City headed by artist Norman Laliberte. In 1964, Laliberte was recruited by Charles Eames to consult on the Vatican Pavilion at the New York World's Fair, where his work was seen by George Beylerian, the owner of the Manhattan craft-gallery Scarabaeus. Together, del Sol and Beylerian produced a variety of paper board games as well as an interactive traveling exhibition titled Fun and Games. This del Sol tic-tac-toe board features male and female cut-out portraits to use as pieces. The male characters, including Enrico Caruso, are in light green; the female characters are dark green.
