Provenance: Richard Wayne (bookplate); Edith Barbara Tranter (bookplate). FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED TO RICHARD WAYNE BY THE AUTHOR. The play premiered in England in 1918 and was Drinkwater?s first major success. The play was adapted into a two?reel sound film by Lee De Forest, and again starred Frank McGlynn as Lincoln. [With:] a TLS (14 December 1929) and original mailing envelope from Drinkwater to Charles Wilson discussing Mr. Wilson?s attempt to recreate the play and the fee it will cost him.
