Featuring the collection of lifelong circus collector John Diesso, this auction includes heralds, couriers, and posters advertising the "greatest shows" of yesteryear. Photographs, route books, scrapbooks, and circus costumes will be also be offered, spanning the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. A wide array of early European circus posters will be sold, along with a large library of circus books of several thousand volumes.

[LITTLE PEOPLE]. Princess Wee Wee Cabinet Card. Boonton, NJ: Frank Wendt, ca. 1913. Princess Wee Wee poses with another woman, possibly her mother. Inscribed on the reverse: "Princess Wee Wee, age 21. Ht 18 inches, wt 9lbs. Real name Harriet Elizabeth Thompson from Baltimore. Appeared at Dreamland in Coney Island." 6 12 x 4 1/4".

Harriet Elizabeth Thompson (ca. 1890 - ?), known by her stage name "Princess Wee Wee," was a notable African American entertainer and actress with dwarfism. Over nearly four decades, she gained recognition for her performances in sideshows, circuses, and black vaudeville. She performed at Coney Island's Dreamland Circus, the Barnum & Bailey Circus, and even at the White House for President Coolidge in 1926.
