In 1769, he had heated correspondence with Founding Father Alexander Hamilton (1755-1804), in which Hamilton thought Livingston had insulted him. They must have worked it out, as Hamilton?s grandson, Alexander Hamilton, Jr., married Livingston?s daughter, Angelica.
