Large stone lithograph French poster promoting Doublier (Joseph Doublier) and his Turkish wrestling troupe, supposedly from the Imperial Palace of Constantinople. Doublier and his small entourage of Turkish wrestlers were a spectacle in the late nineteenth century France, and helped fuel a resurgence of interest in wrestling championships held in Paris. 48 ? x 35 1/8". Linen backed. Minor wear and few spots of restoration in the margins.
