Magician's Gimmicked Dropping Mechanism. London: Jon Martin, ca. 1935. Bespoke magician's gimmick, possibly crafted for Arnold DeBiere by Martin, and most likely used to secretly deliver a large article or bag of palming coins into the magician's waiting hand underneath his coat. Internal spring-loaded mechanism operates by increasing tension on cord extending from sides of device; release of pressure closes the central pin. Possibly meant to be worn between the shoulder blades, attached to a harness or suspenders. 4 ? x 3 7/8". Worn from use. Likely a one-of-a-kind Martin-made device.
