MAJOR MITE (Clarence Howerton, 1913 - 1975). Five photographs, one signed. V.p., ca. 1910s-30s. Silver print photographs, four matte-finish, of Major Mite, an actor and performer who, at 2 ft. 4 inches, was billed as the "smallest man in the world." He toured with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey for 20 years, and also appeared as a Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz. Images include:

Howerton on the steps of the White House, December 1922, during which he visited President Warren Harding.

Full length portrait photograph by Youngberg, inscribed by Howerton to his brother: "To Brother Roy / From / Major Mite / 1926."
