?Man with Muttonchops in Top Hat? Marshall Field?s Animatronic Christmas Window Display Figure. Chicago: Marshall Field?s, 1982. Large painted plaster figure (?Delivery Wagon Case; Figure V?) of a Victorian-era man in gray checked coat, black shoes, gray trousers, black shoes and gloves, white shirt with pearl cufflinks, white silk scarf, and top hat. One hand was apparently holding an object which is now missing. On wooden base with motor and plug. 43? high. Some wear, face has some cracking, figure?s right hand has a broken finger, motor doesn?t work. Very good. From the collection of the Museum of Science and Industry Chicago. This, and the other Marshall Field's Christmas Window display lots were created by Virginia Paxson in collaboration with the legendary New York design/fabrication firm, Spaeth Design.
