Encased within original red straight?grain morocco pictorially stamped in gilt (covers detached). Early edition of this rare pocket map that depicts various railroads, canals, and stage and steamboat routes through the midwestern states. Along the foliate border, four vignettes are shown at each corner showing early views of Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis and Cincinnati. Howes E?165 (1849 edition).
