[MARTINKA & COMPANY] A small group of catalogues, etc. from the oldest magic shop in the United States, Martinka & Company. [Ca. 1890s-1920s]. Included: Magic Puzzles Etc. catalogue (1920); Illustrated and Descriptive Catalogue of New and Superior Conjuring Wonders (1898); a typed note (unsigned) refunding a customer his money, as the books he wanted are unavailable (1919); A small photo (3 x 5 ??) of the owners of Martinka & Company (undated); and a death notice for Pauline G. Martinka (1925). Some wear, soiling; generally good. Martinka & Company is the longest running magic company in the United States. Over the years, it has had several owners (including Harry Houdini and Al Flosso), and has merged with other magic shops, and changed locations.
