The first an statement dated 1920 that states, “My opinion is that the “Indian Rope Trick” usually described has never been performed… “ written in ink by Devant’s secretary, and SIGNED in Devant’s hand on the verso; and the signature of his co-author of Our Magic, Nevil Maskelyne, on St. George’s Hall letterhead.
