(World War One) Matthew J. Connelly Carved Blatz Brewing Oak Beer Stein. Milwaukee, 1949. Solid oak, with metal bands and rivets. 12” tall, with 3” lid and bottom diameter of 7 ½”. Elaborately carved with Matthew J. Connelly’s name on one side, and with Blatz Brewing Co. commemorative label: “1949/Best wishes to the 35th Division from Battery ‘D’ 129th Field Artillery/ Word War I.” With damage to lid hinge, otherwise dusty but very good. Harry Truman served as captain in this same battalion during the Great War.
