McCOMB, Billy. Three Scrapbooks Kept by Billy McComb and June Merlin. 1950s. Trio of small folio albums filled with newspaper clippings, photographs, flyers and brochures, as well as other promotional advertisements for the McCombs and their various appearances both at private events and on numerous British television programs throughout the 1950s. Included in one album are many images, likely unpublished, of the McCombs presenting a wide array of illusions and stage magic. In one picture, the couple produces a bewildered Alex Elmsley from a stage illusion. Many marginal notes, primarily in Billy McComb?s hand, fill the margins of the books. Contents generally in good condition, with usual wear as expected. Sold together with over 40 8 x 10? photographs of McComb performing in a cabaret setting, and picturing many of his trademark routines including the Coin in the Bottle. Sold with COAs from the McComb Legacy auction. A fascinating chronicle of two successful and popular performers from the mid-century.
