This landmark novel won the 1986 Pulitzer Prize in Fiction and was the basis of the 1989 television miniseries starring Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Danny Glover, Diane Lane, and Anjelica Huston, directed by Simon Wincer (it was nominated for 18 Emmy Awards, winning seven).
