This diverse sale - made up of fine, vintage, and vernacular photographs - will focus closely on the snapshot. Once considered mere "fabrics of yesteryear," these fleeting images have been recently reclaimed by the collecting community, and appreciated for their candid, historical, and visual depth. But all genres of photographs will be represented, with featured lots to include space and NASA material, sideshow cabinet cards, fine art photos, and vernacular works of all types.

Mid-Century Professional Wrestling Photograph Archive, including Signed Portraits and Action Scenes. Archive of approximately 44 vintage professional wrestling photographs, many with corresponding versos scanned. Includes studio and promotional portraits, signed and inscribed photographs, and ringside action images. Identified subjects include Don Joyce, Dick Steinborn, Tito Carreon, Vic Christy, Sandy Karras, Rocky Khan, Sweet Daddy Siki, Johnny Valentine, The Fabulous Kangaroos, and others, with several examples bearing autographs, photographer stamps, captions, or handwritten identifications. Images include full-length wrestler portraits, posed publicity photographs, costumed character shots, championship and trophy poses, tag team portraits, and in-ring grappling scenes. A strong and visually varied mid-century professional wrestling archive.

Mostly 5 x 7" and 8 x 10".

Condition

Condition varies, with expected handling wear, creases, toning, stains, edge wear, and occasional mounting or annotation marks to versos.
