Robinson, and Longman and Rees, et al, 1800. 8vo (210 x 127 mm). 8 engravings including a portrait frontispiece of the author after a painting by R. Muller, numerous tables and diagrams in the text (frontispiece a bit browned at margins). (Some dampstaining, some marginal browning to title-page and slightly trimmed below imprint). Full contemporary calf, rebacked preserving original spine, renewed lettering-piece (ends and tips a bit worn, some rubbing along fore-edges, some splitting along spine near end). Provenance: Thomas Wilson Whitby (contemporary ownership signature on title-page and again on front pastedown, with some notes). Fourteenth edition of the most popular navigational text of the late 18th century, first published in 1772.
