MORA, Jo (1876 ? 1947). Sweetheart of the Rodeo. Monterey: Jo Mora, 1933 (but ca. 1939). Color lithograph carte with a large central illustration of a rodeo, and filled with vignettes and illustrations of rodeo implements, cowboys, horses, and the like. This popular poster was reissued by Levi Strauss in the 1950s, and cemented in the popular imagination when The Byrds used the artwork on their studio album Sweetheart of the Rodeo (1968). The map was first printed in 1933 with inset maps flanking the Sweetheart of the Rodeo, and printed again about 1939 with silhouettes replacing the maps. 32 x 23 ?". Linen backed. Small replaced loss bottom margin; short repaired closed tears lower right. A-/B+.
