MORISOT, Berthe (1841-1895). Woman Reclining. Circa 1910. Etching on cancelled plate depicts Morisot?s daughter with Eugene Manet, Julie, reclining against the arm of a couch. Matted and framed, 14 ? x 15 ??; image 3 ? x 4 ??. Published in 1910 for Manet and the French Impressionists by Theodore Duret, the plate was cancelled afterwards by punching a hole on either side of the image. These holes are considered provenance in and of themselves attesting to the engraving?s authenticity. Merrill Chase label affixed to verso of frame.
