A near-mythic figure in the annals of twentieth century music, Muddy Waters arrived in Chicago in 1943 and within five years had been signed to the legendary Chess Records. Jay B. Ross?s association with Muddy Waters began in 1969, when Waters hired him as his first lawyer. For the next fourteen years Ross would represent him, and in the process the two would develop a close friendship, with Waters making a point of gifting his lawyer with signed copies of each of his latest albums.
