Muisca Pottery Bullet Amphora with Negative Resist Motifs. Pre-Colombian (ca. 800-1530 CE), Colombia. Terracotta with metal stand. Metal stand does not fit the sculpture well. Scratches on sculpture at neck were made from the steel open form pof pedestal. Surface dirt, scratches, abrasions, cracking in areas, and triangle crack with repair to rim. Large storage jar called a bullet amphora in reference to its shape. Burnished and decorated with resist painting of geometric shapes. Provenance: Douglas Dawson Gallery, Chicago.
