MUNBY, A[alan] N[oel] L[atimer] (1913-1974). The Alabaster Hand and Other Ghost Stories. London: Dennis Dobson, 1949. 8vo. 192 pp. Publisher's black cloth in original unclipped ("8s/6d") illustrated dust jacket. FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING OF THIS COLLECTION, WRITTEN IN OLAF VII-B.

"These stories were written between 1943 and 1945 in a prison-camp just outside the ancient walled town of Eichstatt in Upper Franconia." Munby was there interned after being captured in Calais while serving as an officer in the Territorial Army. This slim volume of ghost stories, some previously published in the war-camp magazine Touchstone, represent his only contribution to the genre. He is better remembered as a bibliographical collector and book collector.
