Cadell and W. Davies, 1809. Large 4to. Illustrated with 13 plates, 5 plans, and a few facsimiles. Bound in contemporary full brown calf armorial binding with ?The Society of Writers to the Signet? stamped on both boards of both volumes. Both volumes rebacked to style in modern brown calf, black gilt morocco lettering labels, spines stamped in gilt, five raised bands, marbled endleaves (some restoration to boards, some wear, light soiling to bindings, hinges starting, text a bit toned with some occasional foxing, soiling). Fine. FIRST EDITION of ?the fullest, and in many respects the best biography? (DNB) of this beautifully printed work on Lord Nelson.
