Condition

Toned, brittle, worn, creased, several tears. Fair. A HEADLINE STORY ABOUT THE BLOODY END OF THE DALTON GANG AT COFFEYVILLE, KS, WITH AN ILLUSTRATION OF THE VICIOUS BATTLE. On October 5, 1892, the Dalton Gang attempted to rob two banks simultaneously in Coffeyville, KS. The gang met fierce resistance from armed citizens, engaging in a 12-minute gun battle. Four members of the gang were killed at the site, as well as four citizens - the area is now known as "Death Alley." Emmett Dalton, the youngest of the gang, survived with 23 gunshot wounds, and was sentence to life in prison (he was pardoned after 14 years, and became a real estate agent, author, and actor in California, dying at age 66).
