"THE EARPS EXAMINATION - FURTHER TESTIMONY IN BEHALF OF THE PROSECUTION" P3. The column presents the first eye-witness testimonies of Sheriff Johnny Behan and Mrs. M. King for the prosecution, after Ike Clanton filed murder charges against the Earps and Doc Holliday. Sheriff Behan was the most important witness, famously alleging the Earps had executed the unarmed Cowboys in cold blood. The second witness presented, Martha King, was in the neighboring butcher shop at the time of the shooting. "I was in the butcher shop on Fremont Street when the shooting occurred; I heard the firing; while I was in the butcher shop remember of seeing some armed parties pass the door..." Judge Spicer would ultimately find the actions of the Earps and Holliday lawful, lacking evidence for trial, and their charges dropped.
