CLARK, Owen (1876 - 1929). Owen Clark's Shotgun to Chair. Circa 1910. An unusual visual effect in which the magician, taking aim with a substantial metal and wooden double-barreled shotgun, visibly transforms the firearm into a sturdy chair with an apparently upholstered seat and seatback. A bespoke spring-loaded device, constructed from painted metal, wood, and fabric, together with a custom wooden packing case. Collapsed dimensions (including packing case) 5 1/2 x 37 x 3".

A unique piece of magic apparatus from the Edwardian age, owned and used by one of the most inventive magicians to take the stage at St. George's Hall, and a magician many dubbed the "most original magician" of his generation. 

All surfaces well worn, with some separations to fabric and metal elements. Functional, but in need of repair. Case considerably worn, but sturdy.
