[PARIAN WARE BUST]. [BONAPARTE, Napoleon (1769-1821), subject]. Bust of General Napoleon Bonaparte Before His First Consulship. [Ca. 1799-1802]. This striking portrait of the future Emperor of France shows a youthful Napoleon with long hair in his uniform. Bust approximately 9?high. The highly detailed sculpture is cast in Parian porcelain which has a soft, unglazed finish in contrast to the round base which is glazed porcelain. An apparent repair to the base of the bust, just above the porcelain base. Fine.
