Engraved additional titles, letterpress titles in Volumes I?III as usual, 280 engraved plates (several folding). (Some offsetting from plates to text, occasional spotting). Modern quarter leather, marbled sides, black and red morocco lettering pieces gilt. Fourth edition. First published in 1761 based on works by naturalists in other European countries, it became immensely popular and was issued in quarto formats in 1766 and 1767.
