Collection of research materials, drafts of articles, notes, modern ephemera, and publications (including a reprint of Pepper's book on the subject) related to the remarkable stage effect known as Pepper's Ghost (invented by Henry Dircks). Includes brochures, clippings, and copies of stories related to modern recreations of the effect, Phantasmagoria by Mervyn Heard (2006), other booklets on magic lantern shows and ghostly projected images, vintage illustrated clippings regarding optical effects, and similar research materials. The bulk produced post 1970. Housed in one letter box file, with most contents in very good condition or better. A fascinating archive of information on this spectacular visual illusion.
