Oblong paper-covered 8vo album filled with approximately 80 photographs of not only Steele but his contemporaries, in performance, at conventions, and posed for studio images. Pictures show Steele himself performing in the open air on a wagon in the 1930s, on stage, and for varied groups both as a magician and ventriloquist, including one image showing his receipt of a Maskelyne award; other photographs show Houdini, John Ramsay, Arthur Pollard, Bob Swadling and Valerie, Oscar Oswald, Chris Charlton, Benson Du-Lay, Percy Press, Walter Wandman, Edmund Younger, L.E. Powell, Gil Leaney, Jay Palmer and Doreen, Eric Lewis, The Wychwoods, De Vega (including one image at Lafayette?s grave), Eddie Dawes, Edgar Bergen and Charlie, and others. Over half of the images INSCRIBED AND SIGNED by the subject, with most images captioned in the margins by Steele. Front cover detached, but photographs in generally good condition or better.
