Black and white photo (approximately 5 ? x 3 ?") on photographer's card (approximately 7 ? x 5 ?") with rounded corners. Toned, worn, some faint soiling. Very good. Scarce. With the contemporary pencil notation (in an unknown hand) on verso: ?Geronimo Chief of the Notorious band of Arizona Apache Indians Now A prisoner of war at Ft Sill". Geronimo fought in the long Apache-United States wars, starting at the end of the United States' war with Mexico from 1848, lasting until 1886. After his final capture, this proud warrior was displayed for various United States events or exhibitions until his death. Cabinet Card Photographs of Geronimo are rare.
