Contemporary full calf, borders ruled in gilt and blind-stamped in alternating palmettes, spines in six compartments sectioned by gilt filets, burgundy leather labels titled in gilt, centerpieces in blind, gilt dentelle turn-ins and fore edges, marbled endpapers, t.e.g. 155 engraved plates featuring scoundrels, giants, dwarfs, spies, traitors, idiots, prostitutes, strongman, tightrope showmen, and other curious characters including Mary Tofts and Matthew Buckinger. Tall 8vos. Front board of Vol. II detached but present, second spine labels missing, spine joints and ends rubbed, occasional light foxing to plates; otherwise clean.
