[N.p., ca. 1970]. Protest poster featuring an angry Carl Hampton, issued after his murder on July 26, 1970; the Black Panther logo is featured twice near the bottom. Approximately 22 x 17". Mounted onto cardboard. Hampton was a civil rights activist and chairman of the People's Party II, the precursor to the Houston branch of the Black Panthers. Hampton was shot by the Houston Police Department after a 10-day standoff, when they surrounded Hampton's People's Party headquarters on 2828 Dowling. To this day, his death is a source of great controversy in Houston.
