[POTTERY]. Staffordshire Pearlware ?American Sailor? Toby Jug. [England: Royal Staffordshire, ca. 1820s]. An unusual large Toby Jug (issued without a handle, possibly a rare variant) depicting a worried sailor holding a tankard and a pipe whilst seated on his trunk. In pearlware finish. Approximately 11 ?? high. Rear of trunk is captioned ?Dollars?, otherwise unmarked. Some wear, a few chips, a few cracks at seams. Very good. Rare and unusual, especially in this finish.
