[RAWLINGS, Marjorie Kinnan (1896-1953), her copies]. CABELL, James Branch (1879-1958). There Were Two Pirates (2 copies). New York: Farrar Straus & Co., Inc., 1946. 8vos. 121 pp. Publisher's bindings, unclipped (?$3.00") dust jackets (some rubbing, light soiling to bindings; some wear, soiling, creasing to jackets). Very good. FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING, AND FIRST EDITION, SECOND PRINTING, BOTH INSCRIBED BY CABELL ON THE TITLE-PAGE TO RAWLINGS: "For Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings - her book for her birthday, 8 August 1946 James Branch Cabell" and "For Marjorie with amendments and apologies James Branch Cabell". Cabell and Rawlings were colleagues and friends for many years. He had encouraged her to write a biography of Ellen Glasgow, but she never finished it. Excellent association copies from one author to another. From the renowned personal collection of Dr. George D. Lacy.
